Callie Sue Glidden will discuss adaptive frame builder, Jake O'Connor, from Crested Butte, Colorado, who is a quadriplegic. She will share her experience on the array of bike designs made for specific abilities by Jake and will talk about the opportunities for people with disabilities to get into the world of biking.
Callie graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation and a minor in studio arts. Her final year she got the opportunity to build her own bike frame through a course offered at UI and proceeded to attend NAHBS 2018 and BeSpoked 2018. She has spent the past three years investing her time looking into inclusiveness in the outdoor recreation industry. Her most recent involvement was working for six months with The Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, Colorado, a non-profit organization making outdoor adventure activities possible for people with disabilities; primarily road cycling, down hill mountain biking, and cross-country mountain biking with various abilities.
